Thanks for the link your signature, fixed my problem.

I only have FTP access to my server's files, if I right click sm-tf2.games.txt file, then file permissions, and untick write. Will that suffice for the autoupdater to not work?

Using Filezilla

Correct, only permissions between 0400 and 0444.

It seems that we got a weird bug with BOTs (BOT identification) since CS:S converstion to steampipe.
On some plugins we have strange phenomena (hlstatsx: showing a not existing bot and counting it as human player. Skinchooser: a bot wearing admin skins. ...)

I don't know if it is a source bug, sm bug, or plugin bugs.
Would be great if you guys can check that for SM

I noticed that in my logs, bots have a Steam ID of STEAM_ID_PENDING, not STEAM_ID_BOT. I don't remember if that was the way it was before, but I don't think it was.

Since we're on the topic of bot bugs, I'll detail my problems too.

We have idle bots added via a server.cfg file on start-up and have always used this method. Since SteamCMD I now see this in the console when the server starts up. (Note: The ID at the end varies per bot.)

Code:
Cannot verify load for invalid steam ID [A:1:6:1]

A second bug I have with SteamCMD is that every time I update/validate the server, I get a random folder appearing in the base install directory. Amongst the generic folders: bin, hl2, platform and tf, I also have one named e100fc37f862c98adc3f52ed718d48ecdbadebc4. Deleting it is only temporary as a validation will make it appear again.

Contents of the random folder. All directories here are empty.
  • downloading
  • temp
  • appmanifest_232250.acf

It looks like they're now exposing the anonymous SteamID's bots have always had to the server, which would cause both these issues (previously you would have seen that message only once, with all the numbers as 0).

That folder contains metadata steamcmd needs to update the server properly.

i would report all that to valve to have them aware of the issue. i doubt anyone here can fix those problems. i hear the mailing list is great for that.
