Hi, seems my tf2 server is playing stupid, it just refuses to download "tf/particles/error.pcf". It says its missing, and hell yeah it is. Can't find it. Could any1 upload me a copy?

I've tried to update the server and stuff and it wouldn't work. This is a totally clean install with nothing but a very new metamod install, using the latest and most accurate guides, and over two hours of studying how-to's.

Would greately appretiate it!

I believe no one owns that particular file (inlcuding a few VMT files). It's just a problem with Valve not keeping their environments clean.

Ahh. But is there any way to cleanse my life from this wreched curse? I've redownloaded the entire setup twice but to no avail. Kinda pissin me off.

Nope, you'll get that error every time the server starts. Or changes maps.

As I said before, clean server install, took the addons folder out of the latest metamod version and set it in the tf folder and placed a new .vdf file using the metamod site for compiling .vdf files for metamod.

Can't see what could possibly go wrong? Have been arsing around for three days trying to fix this >.< Would be really happy to have it gone.

You can try comment this line with double backslash in
...particles/particles_manifest.txt

No it isn't, that missing particle error happen on every single TF2 server unless they did something like Bacardi is talking about.

I'd double check that the files got uploaded to the server as binary files and not as ASCII/Text files. For that matter, you did upload the Windows version of MetaMod: Source to the server and not the Linux or Mac versions?

I downloaded the windows version from their site, sctually tried three different mirrors that they told me I could get it from.

And it seems like the files are correctly uploaded although I'm starting to think that they accidently published a version without the server map. Gonna go check wether I have it or not.

There is no server map inside the bin folder altough there is a server.dll file. Might it be faultly coded path?

EDIT: got it working, seems like there was some problem with the path in the vdf file. It was set to look for the C drive inside thevtf folder instead, hence the twoo dots before C:\ *facepalm*

To ppl that are hosting by themselves look out so you dont write the whole path to your gameinfo.txt, justwrite orangebox\tf2\

They shoulda kinda pointed that out so lesser people like me could understand :p
