Well it is Eggman's piece of work, so I wouldn't start changing any code without consulting him first.

GPL allows to change the code without contacting the author.

Fair enough. Still, I'd consider it polite to let the author know if you're wanting to do anything drastic.

He provides the source file specifically for people wanting to modify it. If you make a better version than his then it is polite to share it, but there's nothing stopping you from adding your own stuff to it.

That is, if you have object-oriented programming experience and know any form of C.

It's perfectly OK to change the source. I've done it loads of times, and now I'm writing VSH 1.36 for Eggman, while still having my private version.

Speaking of 1.36, it *should* leave replay alone. I gave a test version to a server and they stopped having replay on a team.
