Due to my lack of time and motivation to patch my plugins each time Valve pops a new update I give up this thing.
Anyway the code is free software so feel free (no pun intended) to continue development yourself ;)

Version 1.5

ServerBans is a Metamod:Source plugin for (almost) every Source game/mod.

This plugins completely replaces the ban system shipped with every Source servers and allows server admins to maintain a global banlist.

Why another global banlist plugin ?
Simply because the other plugins that I found where very complex to use and to install, and/or needed other plugins such as SourceMod.

So I made this small plugin which only needs Metamod:Source and a MySQL database to work.

The counterpart of this simplicity is that you will have no details about each ban, you can only know that a steam id is banned, but not which admin as made the ban or on which server this ban was made.

Please note also that temporary bans are not dispatched on other servers to keep the database small. (on my database with 26000 banned id's it is only 1mb big)

This plugin was coded in one day by me, and is used on the 12 servers of the FrenchieFresh community since 4 months.

Warning : When updating to version 1.3 or upper please update your database.
If you download the "update" package then you only need to run the content of update-tables.sql on your database.

Only steamId, but I could add ip bans if there is a real need. (and if I find enough time...)

I don't fully understand why you would need IP bans.
I mean, for Internet servers the steamId is a lot more reliable than the IP, and for LAN servers I don't see in which case you need to ban someone.

Could you please give me an usage example ?
