I was searching on the internet for some music while I was at school the other day and I came across a cool website called www.pandora.com

I was thinking about a cool plugin which would be a lot like all of the other music plugins only better

It could function somewhat like this

SpitfireXD:/Music
(the MOTD menu opens a .html file)
The Html file would have to contain the pandora website
I would think I could browse around and get my songs going then hit OK
(motd window close)
(SpitfireXD is now listening to music while playing)
SpitfireXD:/stopmusic
(the motd window opens and says thank you for listening and stops the music)

I would think it wouldnt be to hard to get this to work would it?

There could be another MOTD window that opens when you say /musichelp

That could explain all the stuff you need to do (I would want to edit it to my likings)

This would be really flipping sweet

Thx to anyone who attempts this plugin

I am far from being a coder, but the following works (well it gets the music going anyways!)

I do not know how to make it stop playing - so will have to leave that to the more knowledgable peeps out there.

The text files go into your mod directory (ie cstrike).

I am reasonably sure that this could be done better, so if anyone wants to show me how it's done????

Commands
say /music
say /musichelp

Alright I figured out how we could get it to stop and its actually quite simple

Make it so when someone says /stopmusic

A motd window opens and says thx for listening or something like that

The music will stop no extra coding

pandora is a flash client, if you opened up their website and got the music goin, and it was still giong after you closed the motd windows, the only way to stop it woudl be to "reopen" that same motd window. i'm sorry I don't know much about motd windows, is it that when you open a motd and then close it, any sounds or media will continue as if that window is still open?

You can use Half Life Media Player, which has already been created.

HLMP uses an ini file to store the file links. Still uses the motd window to start/stop the stream.

In CZERO(I run a czero server), the motd can display html code. Thus enabling you to embed wmp into the motd. When the motd closes, the file continues streaming until either the file is done or is stopped by another motd opening.

He was requesting to have the motd show the site in the motd and then stream the file. HLMP uses a hud menu and shows an motd with the proper embed code for the file.

PS...I sent a pm to spitfire about this. From what I understand...server advertising here is not allowed so I sent a pm to spitfire with my server ip so he can see this request in action. It is not hard for someone to do, even a beginner scripter. Majority of the "functions" are handled via a webserver. I have been running this format in my server for the past 6+ months.

My plugin simply shows my song list in the motd window. It is all mouse driven, meaning you point and click the link and the file is streamed to the client. Client download speed determines the performance. Screenshots? Sure.

Sorry for the quality...I had to use print screen to capture the motd screen, apparently F5 screenshot doesnt capture the motd window.

Another note, this was done using a series of files html, .wma, etc. which are stored and accessed via a webserver.

The only thing the plugin does is show my html song list and then show another motd to stop the stream.

Hey organizedKaos, could you please, please post that customized version of yours of HLMP? I don't like the menu system original HLMP got, and I dislike it so much so it makes me to not use the whole plugin.

But that is just perfect! I would be really appreciated if you could post it or send via PM.
