IMO, if you regularly play tf2 and trade and stuff, making a server is good because a) you get to run a server, b) you can make profit from selling admin/vip (both money and keys/good items), c) a huge variety of fun gamemodes and plugins and game types. But, that's my opinion and I've never run a server other than TF2

The best game is a game you enjoy to play with others, so your server will be supportet. Just run SteamCMD/HLDSupdatetool and then run srcds does not make a good server for any game!

CSS, TF2, DODS have millions of servers, where nobody plays on. So it has to be a game, where you can imagine to play weeks and months with only one enemy or against bots, till someone will join and will have fun to play with you.

This works with every game, but you have to play it ^^

As long as you can make a server that is unique, and 'stands out' then any game would do.

Pick a game you have a decent knowledge of, so at least this way you won't be confused when people are asking you questions and you'll at least know what does and doesn't work in terms of plugins/maps.

I currently run 7 servers for TF2 and it's a great game to run servers for because there is just so much potential and a lot of ideas that just haven't been thought of yet.
