Ever since the last Steam DLC update, versus mode only connects 4 of 8 players to my server. I've tried taking out all the commands that aren't needed in the server configs, but still nothing.

It works correctly w/o Sourcemod installed, so there's obviously something I've missed. And since there are other servers out there functioning correctly with Sourcemod and some plug-ins enabled, well, I'm at a loss.

I would much appreciate anyone's assistance. Thank you.

I cannot help you but occasionally my server will reset itself to coop and DA1 (my default map) and become a 4 person limit server.

This only happens occasionally and I cannot successfully reproduce it.

Check for -maxplayers 8 in your server launch parameters.
Check for sv_visiblemaxplayers 8 and mp_gamemode versus in server.cfg.

Write back if this is not working.

Not quite sure where I can find the -maxplayers 8 as it's being hosted on gameservers.com.

I added the sv_visiblemaxplayers 8; mp_gamemode versus is already there. However, it only works right when it wants to I'm afraid.

For example, as I was reading this, I saw no one on my servers. So I added the command and restarted the server. I went and checked HLSW and saw that both servers were running 8 (full) players... and then my server processed the restart command and there went 8 people on one server only to reload with only 4 people.

I can only say what it seems like to me and that is people aren't fully loading onto my server via a lobby (or are somehow being blocked). If I give it a few minutes (like right now while I'm typing this), the server eventually fills up. Either with the original people from the lobby or not, I have no idea.

open a support ticket to change you command line, that should look like this:

-game left4dead -autoupdate +ip IP -port 27015 +maxplayers 8 +sv_gamemode versus +map l4d_vs_hospital01_apartment -console -secure +exec server.cfg

i am not sure abot sv_gamemode, found it somewhere on ValveDev Wiki..

Also, let us see your server.cfg

It works now, off and on. I basically just put up the stock gameservers.com server.cfg, plus a few mods for the server like crawling, etc.

It mostly gets 8 of 8 players, but sometimes not...

First, remove sv_cheats 0 from the config, or even better add alias sv_cheats "status" to remove the command and make unaccessable from rcon - it produce lots of bugs. A very common one, is that infected spawn range is increased EXTREMLY, they must go faaaaar away from the survivors to spawn. And sometimes survivors start getting very little damage like if the difficulty was set to Easy. And etc etc.

After exec banned_ip.cfg add:
writeid
writeip
This will make all bans made by SM to stay.

And remove sv_downloadurl, its not needed.

sv_region must be set to region you are in or 255.

PS: Thanks for some few commands, they are usefull. For the master list too

That's caused by changing mp_gamemode to versus mid-game and not restarting the map...

Nah .. this bug happend when some bugged release of HLSW re-sent all commands it retrieved from server. Also, it re-sent sv_cheats 0 - that caused bugs. When i aliased sv_cheats with "status", the bug was gone.

This happend also, when i had sv_cheats 0 in my server.cfg, when i removed it, everything worked fine.

The bug comes sometimes when people are loading, and some guy on infected team is fast, so he joins Inf team while there are bots on another.

The same bug has been there since last year, when i had a server. Just another issue valve never fix.

Given that myself and many others use configs with sv_cheats 0 in it, without any issues, I can say that sv_cheats 0 is not the issue here.

This bug is caused by mp_gamemode changing after the map is loaded, whether it be in server.cfg, or that possibly mp_gamemode is a cheat command and changing sv_cheats changes it, and if you don't change it back it bugs out. (Which if true, could be the source of the OP's problem, and may fix his issue)

Regardless, putting sv_cheats 0 in your server.cfg doesn't do a whole lot, so it's not worth discussing either way. and you may as well remove it.
