you will also have to configure sourcemod in the metaplugins.ini, srcds apparently doesnt load vdf anymore (unless they patched it recently)

Im going to be converting my tf2 servers tommorow. I will try to do a writeup while im doing it.

You just need to update MM:S to the latest snapshot.

...but I thought Snapshot builds weren't currently available.

Well aren't you captain obvious.

It's just temporary downtime. Even if all of AlliedModders was down, the correct answer to MM:S not reading VDF files is to update MM:S, and that it has nothing to do with SRCDS.

I figured it was obvious enough to do it when they're available again that it didn't need an explicit mention.

Just do all same way like before on server.
This is my opinion
It might be beneficial for mods with large numbers of custom models/sounds/maps (such as Saxton Hale, FF2, Prophunt, etc) to distribute their files in a vpk.

Of course, files on the fastdownload server can't be in VPKs...

I tried to get Fletcher to change his mind about that one, but no luck.

Yeah, but for the sake of easier management on the server side, it would probably be easier to just upload custom/ff2.vpk

But would clients need to install the vpk before joining the server?

You'd still have to put the loose files on your fast download.

How the fuck did they get it working haha.
The server was using sourcemod 1.5
1.5.0-hg3832
I knew because I typed sm in console.
Does anyone have the owner of the servers on their friend's list? And could possibly ask the owner how he or she got sourcemod running?
If I may ask, was it the 24/7 Control Point server you connected to?

That particular server should be running the latest snapshot of SM and WILL be running the latest snapshot of MM if their website becomes available for download. Currently without the latest version of MM though, adding the plugin into MM manually was the only way to get SM up and running. The server is still being worked on and setup but just listen to the folks here at Alliedmods, they will be able to help you out with any and all issues.

Practically all server owners are going through the same stress so hopefully if everyone helps each other out in explaining setup methods and issues they came across, this conversion will be alot easier for all of us in the end. Goodluck to everyone and their servers!
