Im working on updating my plugin model fun (http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?p=775016) to use this but according to voogru's usage guidlines i dont think i can release it as it allows you to attach any model to a player, albeit in a pretty dodgy looking way.
If i can get my branch version working i can test it myself but until the issue surrounding using valve models as attachments is resolved im fairly sure i would be doing a disservice by releasing it.

You can use it for that, just advise users not to use the valve models and in the event that they do, my plug-in will enforce the restriction.

Particles are still allowed to be used/spawned/parented from Team Fortress 2 right?

Just so I'm staying within Valve's wishes, what about player models?
No valve hats or other wearables (weapons), got it. But we used equipment manager to equip models/player/scout.mdl for example, and you could have a sniper look like a scout, think that would be ok?

People who would get the hat for buying a game they really wanted to play, not for some pixels in another game.

All Valve's actions have given the obsessed people a reason to spend money to get a hat, since they can't get it any other way now.
Which is simply a step towards pay-to-wear hats from a hatstore.

It'd be making Tf2 into a giant advertisement for other games..

Unless I've gotten it completely wrong, and that it really was buying a hat, with a game as a bonus.

Wait a second, since when was there a patch that blocked the parenting of entities to players (or whatever was used). I've been using the Equipment Manager plugin for months now with absolutely no compatibility issues.

lol, since the 119th update? You can see the hat on yourself, but it is invisible to other players.
