Steam Group Join Possible?

Hi,

Before you rage no I don't want auto invite...

I've had a look around and wondered if there was any way to invite a user to a group if they type for example !join?

At the moment i'm using the WebShortcuts.smx to open the group page in MOTD which is all good... But because steam is retarded you still have to login to steamcommunity again before you can join and most people just a) wont or b) don't know the login.

I'm not sure if there is a way to actually send an invite from a steamid, or has this been deliberately shot down to stop spam? Second possibility is that a steam account for the server sends a friend request to the user who !join requested, I then invite from that... But can you send a friend using some script?

Any ideas or help appreciated.

That would be possible
But players would need either modified client or they would need to login on steam in motd window.

So its not possible as a standard steam user? The MOTD login is what i'm saying renders the whole thing pointless, most people don't know the login or just don't bother.

Is it possible to use a legit steam account to invite people as friends if they request it? i.e. client types !join, plugin sends an invite from STEAM_MINE to client?

It's possible , tho there is no public plugin since it could easily be converted to a auto inviter.

Best to use Web Shortcuts (Redux) and show the user your Steam group page, so they can join that way.

That's exactly what I'm doing but unfortunately steam on the web doesn't interact with the steam application so people have to log in again. Aka, they don't bother

Its also a little buggy, sometimes you have to do the command twice to see the MOTD as it seems to open and close first go.
