Perhaps he only wants to become an Approver to approve SourceMod plugins wrongfully posted in the AMX sections.

I think I'll actually give it a try in the future. I've been around for quite some time now and learnt a lot of things and I believe I have the required amount of knowledge needed to become an approver.

I've released one decently large plugin already: https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=209660 - however it received far less attention than I expected. I'll make another one soon I guess.
