yeah thats it...

I never said AMXX shouldnt be free. I said that he should make a panel for game server companies since he has the knowledge to do so. Would we need it? No. We have one. But AMX could make a nice share off of the idea. Try actually reading the posts instead of seeing the word "charge" and then flaming.

To doubletap: My comment was in refferance to the post that was met with agreement that it would greatly help noobs that were having problems installing and updating. Do you not agree with this?

I think everyone is too used to getting everything for free.

I said bailopan should make a markateble panel for the server companies.... So the guys from AMX actually get something for their hours and hours and hours of work. And then I get flamed for it. Good way to show your appreciation.

I was in favor of server companies paying for licenses to AMX when it was brought up back in the day... we support AMX fully. Thats why we donated a server to AMXX and try to help out where we can.

The problem here is that yall dont seem to realize how much AMX helps the server companies. The constant changing and updating of AMX keeps CS fresh and new, constalntly something to try out still contantly new plugins and mods. Public servers as a whole are sold less than 50% of the time over match servers compared to a year ago. CS is slowly going to the competitiors with more and more public servers becoming desolate. AMXX is keeping things fresh and new. Change is always needed.

Without this, CS would have been dead a year ago.

Is it really so wrong for someone to want the AMX guys to get reimbursed for their time? It's not like any of you would ever have to pay a penny...

Shane

  • Easy Installation
Well duh, this is done soo well with an installer.
  • Autodetection of mods/HL-dirs
easly done with NSIS, thanks to the fact that it can read the registry.
  • Ability to modify configuration files with a graphical interface
erm this can be done too with NSIS. this has been done by dirtbiker0.
  • Auto-Updating of AMX Mod X
Me and dirtbiker0 have done this.
  • Copy configurations to different mods
this can be done with a simple batch file.
  • Ability to compile plugins on the fly and add them in
compile on the fly and add them in, with a few edits to compile.bat that can be done.
  • Easy CVAR manipulation
GUI for CVAR manipulation, this sound alot like your 3rd task.
  • Configuration for multiple servers in the same dir
wow, i dont know about this one.

I recommend InstallAnywhere by Zero G. Multi-platform installer including console if command lines are given for UNIX based.

Yes this is good for multi-platform installs, but unless you have the money, $4494.00 ouch.
