We have about 40 different people in our admins.cfg file and out of the 40 there's 1 that doesn't work. I've tried the steam id method and the name method and neither of them work.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Most the time it's just a simple typo. I would double check everything.

Check for an extra space as well.

Well, install sourcebans first. Then, its 100000 times easier to add admins.

I triple checked for typo's it's all good.

Its pretty random for 1 admin out of 40 to just not work....

Is he entering the admin trigger correctly?

He gets this error message when he tries to use his key bind;\

Did he pm you his steam ID? Or did you hijack it via hlsw or status in console while in game with him? I would join the server and type status to make sure the steam ID is correct. remember also if you typed it It should be STEAM:0xxxx not steam:0xxxx

Actually that happened on my servers as well once.
It was a root admin who could not access sm_admin.

He was assigned a group with the "z" flag but still it didn't work (it used to work before for him).

My fix was to explicitly assign that user the "z" flag additionally to the "z" flag coming from the group.
Now we use sourcebans and everything is fine without any workarounds.
