I've never heard setting rate, cl_cmdrate, & cl_updaterate could affect your FPS since that should only affect the data that you send and received to and from the server. fps_max is the only main cvar that I know that could affect your fps (Plus developer if you want to go over 100).

well, i change those and maxrate and that is when i see the difference. I dont have developer 1 but i go to 102 sometimes.

"data sent to and from the server" how is that not effecting your fps? As in on that particular server. But those 3 commands are all i changed and i went from 30 -40 to 90 - 100

I though in Quake when you lag, your FPS went down, i'm not sure if QuakeWorld/HL had this changed or not, but if not. Setting your rates will effect it.

And wow, developer 1, dam. I stay steadily above 100 and hit 200 sometimes but steady around 140 170.

I'm stuck at 300. I know I can go above 500+ (SLI 8800 Ultra), 1440x900 | 16xQ | VSync off (LCD).

I know I have to tweak a lot more to go past it since my CS is like on default settings.

rofl 2 ultra's? ir lame i hit 1000 with a single 8800 GTs oc'ed to 630mhz\2gh and c2d 2.4 oc'ed to 4 GHs on w\c
