Yes I own this, the other Owner is community side.
Performance on my servers is not "terrible" nor is it brilliant. The reason I say it's good for 17 servers purely because it is. The only reason some of my servers have high var is due to the fact that 1. You do not need var to surf/bhop as it's purely movement, as long as it's stable and doesn't halt it's completely fine. As for my arena servers, that's just putting 30 people in a server with constant hit registration thus making the var spike like mad in some cases.
I am not sure the last time you even attempted to play on my servers however I've been working on new optimisations in the past week or so so maybe you'd like to re-visit and give me your views again. Which I forgot to add above, it's not a case of my server which is running them is bad, like mentioned it doesn't even cap above 70%. It's due to source engine limitations in which a single server (surf to be the prime suspect) is seen at points using around 120% of a CPU core and there's nothing you can do with that, upgrading your server won't make no difference.
You may have joined in the period of me testing out Surf at around 64 players and seeing the impact it would cause and it's safe to safe that rendered it as unplayable. This was like this for a solid 4 days to see if I could improve performance to cater for the high demand on my surf server due to seeing it constantly 50/50 I thought I'd up to 64/64 and that's where the server started to fail.
Like mentioned, it's all a case of tinkering until you get it perfect and I've been told all servers other than surf are better so I'd like you to re-visit maybe. However thanks for highlighting the issue but I deem it as resolved.
