I'm a TF2 guy but thinking about also hosting a CSGO dm server and have NO IDEA like what tickrate to use etc. Any help would be appreciated.

you're gonna need a beefy cpu to host 32 players at 128-tick bruh

I'm not OP but does CSGO still run on 1 core? Would a CPU with a high clock be better than an expensive multi-core server CPU?

The main game thread is not multi-threaded. So yes, higher core clock speeds are required for high slot counts / tickrates.

On windows (not sure about linux) the networking is multi-threaded and runs over multiple cores so you're* best to not set affinities and let windows do the job.
