Had an working one, was an different plugin.
not sure if I am able to retrieve it.

I've just realized if I use the plugin with the enabled "Matrix Jump Mod Extreme" Metamod-Plugin (you can do really crazy wide and high jumps instead of the basic long jumps), the double steps don't work anymore.

The "Matrix Jump Mod Extreme" Metamod-Plugin is used in the Version Beta 2 from 2002.
Maybe there was a more recent version and if so - it would be hardy possible to get it nowadays.

Would there be any way to get these two plugins working together well?

I've tried to find some information about that with good old google and the wayback machine - but unfortunately it would seem that all these information about "Matrix Jump Mod Extreme" are lost

there is plugins that do the same thing as this matrix jump.. try searching the forum.
I'm not sure it will be the same, but trying won't kill yaa.
