Any L4D2 custom maps crash...
changelevel or map
shows engine error on the srcds when I join or anyone else.
Help?

When I connect (client) it is stuck at loading screen.
Then this error shows up on the server console. Different maps the same.

Seems Like you didn't add the map in the correct spot or map is broken, try to run the map in single player to confirm its working.

Map (.vpk) is in the addons folder. Both in client and server. I tried 2 different maps both errors. Single works.

You have to start custom maps from lobby. You cannot change TO them.

Unless you unpack the VPK into your game directory, then give all those files to all of your clients.

Valve doesn't seem to care too much about the custom maps aspect. You also have to download them manually unlike all the other source games :/

Yep, if you want it to find your server without making a steam group then open notepade (text editor*) and place a line in it with the following:

mm_dedicated_force_servers 777.xx.xxx.xxx:27015

Replace the 777.xx.xxx.xxx with the external IP of your server and the 27015 with the port that is forwared for the server.

Then save the file as: autoexec.cfg and place it in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\cfg

The above folder location is assuming you are using Windows x64 bit if you are using linux or win x86 (32bit) then place it in the corresponding folder as is fit.

Then when you start a lobby (regardless if you choose best available or official dedicated etc) it will try to connect to the server with that IP in your autoexe.cfg

Some maps load fine but some don't...
Sucide blitz map is giving error in single for me and my friend (local)... We both verified our games. Engine error.
Also precinct 84.

Are we the only ones getting this?

What is addon support in the tools? I just installed it.

Start server map official? Then lobby force dedicated server? I'm still getting engine error...

Nvm it's strangely working now.....
