I have a brief request for two (or one depending on if the feature is added to the single plugin) plugins.


1) A plugin to turn off/disable the announcement messages in TF2 for everytime someone ranks up their strange weapon. They are increasingly annoying. They're fine for everything else. Just that.


2) A plugin granting the ability to create a custom alert announcement. Such as:

sm_alert "This is an alert" - for a standard message

sm_alert "benja" "This is an alert" - for a message with someone's name and avatar.


Not important, but fun additional alerts could be:

sm_alert_unbox "benja" "item" - for a fake unboxing-crate alert.

sm_alert_rank - etc etc, you get the picture.


Primarily I'm looking for the ability to disable rank pop-ups, but figured creating custom alert pop-ups could be fun too.

As for #1, no one seems to know how those messages are sent to players.

As for #2, see #1 as well as Possible to create the client-side alert panels that TF2 has now? on the Scripting board.

At a guess, it's via HudNotify or HudNotifyCustom UserMessage, but like I said, it's just a guess.

The GameCoordinator is part of the TF2 central item server that clients talk to directly via Steam. Therefore, it's not possible to block or fake these messages at the server level.
