Exactly. There is so much spam like those manip had said that the moderators don't even throw it in the trash because 2/4 of the people that post do not use descriptive topic titles.

Peli 02-09-2005 22:07

True , there is so much trash , if the mods got rid of it , there would be no forum.

Re: Use descriptive topic names!

Why not take away some karma for non-descriptive topictitles? :)
Anyway, I hate those types of titles too. Makes search so much more difficult.

Why not ban them? :)

Re: Use descriptive topic names!

why not throw them in the trash anyways. it would teach ppl to use descriptive names and read the rules. also it would help ppl that use descriptive names get more responses :) i mean after all those ppl should be rewarded for using descriptive names.

That makes the presumption that people (a) can read and (b) are teachable. Time and again we've found that to not be the case.

And no, vvg125, we haven't given up. We still lock/trash threads regularly that don't past muster. However, it's mostly limited to the Support board.

I was referring to the suggestion board specifically but... fair enough.

Re: Use descriptive topic names!

Just an FYI.

I have been adding "<- CHANGE ME QUICK" to the topic titles. This is now the warning. If I see activity going on in the thread and the title still hasn't been changed after at least a day, I will lock it with a link to this thread. Your topic title should say something of what you are looking for so we know what it is about before we open the topic. This is the only warning you will get from me.

Re: Use descriptive topic names!

Ive seen that a lot too, Lets pray people can still read.

Re: Use descriptive topic names!

Just lock it and put link of this thread in it.

If u keep warning them they keep doing it and get their answer within the day and keeps doing the same mistake, ya digg?

So lock and put thread link? i think its much easier.
And if they keep doing bad topic names, You know the rest of what u can do :]

Re: Use descriptive topic names!

I think I will change the topic title to something humiliating (depends on how often they have done it) and if they reply back without changing it, it gets locked. Simple enough

dangerix 04-23-2008 19:27

Re: Use descriptive topic names!

When I first saw the "<- CHANGE ME QUICK", I thought it was the user posting it into his title.
Something like "IVE GOT THIS 1337 PLUGIN BUT NOT WORKING <- CHANGE PLUGIN QUICK!!1".

unfortunetly....it seems that these days, it starts getting out of hand....on the first page of Suggestions / Requests i only see two ( 2 ) topics that respect the rules....perhaps you should state somewhere that requests are prefixed by [REQ] and suggestions by [SUGG]

The thing is that we do not require those types of prefixes. Personally, I would rather not see them, but the topic starter can do whatever he wants as long as it is descriptive

Re: Use descriptive topic names!

So much spam.

I saw "help pls", "ned ths plugn", "[REQ] HELP HELP HELP", "I NEED THIS PLUGIN OR GO AWAY", "requst", "head", "die" and "request guns do no damage" (WTF IS THIS FOR?).

Re: Use descriptive topic names!

People don't even know this thread exists. Maybe change design of stick threads, put some pink color on thread's title and with butterflies spitting yellow blood would call them attention to this thread.
