This entire situation proves the point that sourcemod "should" be ran on srcds. I don't know, maybe I'm alone on this. but I find it MUCH simpler.

Agreed, also doesn't Valve block you entering their servers if you have sourcemod loaded, maybe any VAC server.

Yes, it's the same way as putting it into a dedicated server. but visual77 mentioned that it's not possible for a local l4d2 server, so i don't know if it works, but actually it should.

I didn't say it was totaly impossible but since SM 1.4.1-1.4.3, people have reported that their listen servers are crashing to desktop. Somone metioned earlier one of the 1.3.9 snapshot to be working but the old 1.3x branch has been removed from sourcemod.net so if you want to find one of those it's gonna require some google skills.

You are right. You need -insecure on the launch parameter in steam to be able to load with unsigned mods,
You may then only connect to other -insecure servers (NON VAC) and you may not connect to -secure servers. (VAC).

I think this applies to sourcemod and metamod but not to hud changes and simple skins on client.

As i say'd , i'm not dumb enough to not knowning how to install sourcemod and metamod
I think no one here actually understood me.
You know , in L4D2 , when in lobby , there is an option where you can choose the type of server .
When i choose the option "Local Hosting Server" , i want to be admin , no need to launch L4D2DS etc...Got it now ?

Everyone here is over-complicating this.
1. Yes you can run on local !
2. Chuck the sourcemod, metamod and metamod.vdf ALL into your addons
3. In the sourcemod/config/admin_simple.ini - set your steam id at the bottom of the text file and give yourself full immunity "STEAM:XXXX 99"

Now when you run a local server, you will be admin and have access to all the commands. Also, make sure you add -insecure to your launch options or you cannot start your server, then remove -insecure if you are going to play on a different server that is not yours.

So as of a reply to your first question: No you cannot do it automatically, you must do this manually!
