The one thing that I know I don't like about Chrome is the lack of status bar. It don't want it on top of my content!

As far as an "omnibar" (I googled it) I hate the idea. If I want to search for something I go to the website I'm going to search.

On other notes, IMAP > POP, my family uses gmail as a host but we have our own domain for our e-mails which is awesome that they offer that option.

If it weren't for the other people (family, friends) that want to use my mail server too, I wouldn't have considered running one. Maintenance is indeed a big con.

I like the Gmail interface much more than any of the FOSS mailservers.
I barely use the web interface, eventhough Zimbra's is pretty awesome. I prefer standalone user agents like Thunderbird on my desktops and the crappy one that comes with Windows Mobile on my phone.

Right, to add to what Hawk is saying, if my VPS was to ever get cancelled or hacked, then my web server would be screwed up meaning all my mail would most likely be gone.

Isn't that what backups are for?

The e-mail clients on phones are just awful. Oh, so awful.

The other day I accidentally fat-fingered "delete" on my Droid. Couldn't see anything about undo, and no way to switch folders or anything. Why do I have a smartphone?

Agreed. That's why deleting a mail on my phone only removes one from its cache, and not from the server.

And what adblocker is this? As i read on the noscript forum after him having contacted google, the extension API in chrome doesn't allow you to block things, whatever extension you are using is probably just hiding the content with css instead of actually blocking it.

Okay, I was trying to avoid saying something, but oh well.

re: benchmarks and optimizing for Google services. If you're interested see An Analysis of the Dynamic Behavior of JavaScript Programs (PLDI 2010).

Spoiler: They find that benchmarks don't represent the real world. Even Google doesn't write code representative of the way they and other engines optimize. You can probably infer the web is not yet gated on JS perf. Performance graphs in the media/blogs are benchmarketing and little more, though the end result is beneficial (and web performance is a chicken/egg problem anyway).

What IM Clients are you (all) using ? Just wondering what people use...

Obviously, I'm using Yahoo Messenger... Pretty popular around my place... and I don't really give much crap about it because I use it as an utility not as a customization...
