My current webhost is having issues and we are looking to transfer our forums, website and Sourcebans installation to a new host. One with nice disk space, MySQL databases and one who allows remote SQL connections and of course Sourcebans ports.

I tried setting up a webserver on a VPS before, but for me doing this for the first time it was more of a hassle. And I wasn't exactly sure if the method I was doing was secure or not.

Is there an all in one bundle I can install that will do pretty much everything for me? Or do I need to sit and install each thing bit by bit and then configure it? I would love to do this, but I have no idea if what I am doing is secure, it's what puts me off.

One Option would be the LAMP Stack from Bitnami (inludes Apache MySQL and PHP http://bitnami.org/stacks

If you are having more than one Webiste Forxlor would be something for you: http://www.froxlor.org/features.html

If you want to pay a bit of money, Plesk is also a good Solution (Maybe your VPS Provider offers it for a few bucks per month)

Or if you know someone who can speak german, there is a great webhost wich offers all these services for free (2GB Space, if you write a Support Ticket you can get more), Unlimited DBs and FTP-Accounts. External Access to the DBs (just write a Ticket), Unlimited Traffic and much more.

@Dr. McKay, maybe you should read the post, he isnt looking for webhosting, he wants to know if there is a LAMP Stack aviable

Well setting up a VPS would be interesting to do, but I would never be sure if what I was doing would land my website hacked within a day. So if in the end I do decide to forget that idea, the next thing would be to find webhosting

If you have linux.

Type this to putty (or what ever client you have)
apt-get install apache2
apt-get install php5
apt-get install mysl-server

It's pretty easy to find out from google what you have to do ;d

There is a Tutorial on how to setup a LAMP stack on a Ubuntu Server (The Setup on Debian should work the same way).

But If you have never worked with linux before you should learn to use it (maybe in a virtual machine), before getting a VPS. But once you know how to use a Linux-VPS its alot cheaper to run the Website and the Servers on your VPS (if you have a good and cheap provider ofc)
