Hi as garrys mod is hl2 engine would source mod work on a Garrys mod server?
If so would one go about installing it in the same way ?

Install both MetaMod and SourceMod for what ever OS your server is. and let us know. Yes follow the same install directions.

ok i uploaded sourcemod and meta mod but it seems that the command sm_admin is a unknown command so i take it that it will not work unless anyone can think of a reason why this is happening ?

It defo used to work i had SM running on a garrysmod server a while ago. Unless something has got broken recently i'd guess maybe you messed up adding sourcemod somewhere.

Check metamod is defo running with "meta version" (i think is the command).

If that shows the version ok, try something like "meta list" to see if sourcemod is running ok.

If sourcemod is loaded then i really dont know why the menu isnt working, because it did in version 1.1 (i think it was that i was running) with garrysmod.

Your install is most likely incorrect, as SM will work on it.

This is wierd as i took the files from a server(L4D) that it is working fine on with meta running to. downloaded the files to my desktop then uploaded to my Garrys mod server but no joy

I also tried downloading the latest version and uploading it again no joy

Maybe its the Metamod L4D vdf.
Make a new one for garrysmod and replace the metamod vdf used for L4D
with the new one you created for garrysmod.

Also check your install path. Garrysmod did something weird in their file structure and have their own addons folder.

MetaMod and Source mod should be installed here garrysmod/addons not

garrysmod/garrysmod/addons I believe.

so i need to make a addons folder in the first garrys mod folder as there is not one in that folder either is there a cfg folder so do i add one of them as well? i complied a gm.vdf
