Reply With Quote #1

Hi guys, my English is not good forgive if spelling mistake.

QUESTION 1

As title, I search for Google and found 1 thread from steam forum, basically the theories are...

Quote:
* sv_minrate should always be set at 0. This will allow your dial up clients to set their rate as low as they need to so that they can play with as little lag as possible. DIAL UP CLIENTS DO NOT CAUSE LAG, BAD SERVER SETTINGS CAUSE LAG. HIGH PING KICKERS ARE UNFAIR AND A LOAD OF CROCK!

* sv_maxrate = bandwidth X 125 / server slot

* sv_maxupdaterate = sv_maxrate / 300
Then someone made a calculator according to above theories.
I input my data into Drek's HLDS rate calculator
(512kbps upload | 2.4GHz processor | 2GB ram)

Output.. is it ok for my condition? (Yes it works fine but I need opinion)
sv_minrate 0
sv_maxrate 8000
sv_minupdaterate 10
sv_maxupdaterate 27

QUESTION 2
Also, from above thread post #4 the TS wrote this.

* I'm adding this because a few people have been asking about it. If you want the latest version of Booster you can find it here . The following are my recommended settings for Booster. I do not recommend more aggressive settings than this. These settings should improve your server's responsiveness, and I have found stability as well, without causing problems.

Quote:
booster_show_connmsg 0
booster_autofps 100
booster_minsleepms 10
booster_force_systicrate 0
booster_cpu_enabled 1
booster_cpu_spikemax 2
booster_cpu_spikelevel 60
booster_cpu_floor 20
booster_cpu_quiettime 60
booster_cpu_mmmin 2
booster_cpu_mmmax 8
booster_cpu_mminc 1
booster_lite_mode 3
Then I read this and it tells..
Quote:
Rule of thumb for sys_ticrate:
sys_ticrate 500 = 250fps
sys_ticrate 1000 = 512 fps
sys_ticrate 10000 = 1000fps (Max)
So if fps 100 then my sys_ticrate should be what value?
(100/250) x 500 = 200?

QUESTION 3
If I follow above setting, is it suit my PC?
(512kbps upload | 2.4GHz processor | 2GB ram)

sv_minrate 0
sv_maxrate 8000
sv_minupdaterate 10
sv_maxupdaterate 27

booster_show_connmsg 0
booster_autofps 100
booster_minsleepms 10
booster_force_systicrate 0
booster_cpu_enabled 1
booster_cpu_spikemax 2
booster_cpu_spikelevel 60
booster_cpu_floor 20
booster_cpu_quiettime 60
booster_cpu_mmmin 2
booster_cpu_mmmax 8
booster_cpu_mminc 1
booster_lite_mode 3

sys_ticrate 200

I just tested, the Booster was controlling sys_ticrate realtime.
(sys_ticrate keep changing between 100~120)

I closed everything then the HLDS with Booster's CPU usage & FPS are constant.
Until I open firefox or other applications it start to raise randomly, is this normal?
(See picture below)

The Booster works fine as normal server but consume more CPU usage.
What if I remove Booster. How to set constant FPS w/o Booster?

As you know, booster will try to adjust your sys_ticrate to let your server have FPS refer to booster_autofps. But it eat up more cpu when server goes with a higher tickrate.

The best solution to run a needed constant server FPS is running it on a hard managed OperatingSystem with a good Server at least 2 cores cpu(or 2 cpus).

You may try running your server in console mode or console mode as a service, this will less your cpu usage.

And my Kernel is operating at 1000Hz

pc223:/home/hlds/HL-Server-1# cat /boot/config-2.6.24.7-rt27-kwstas | grep 1000
CONFIG_HZ_1000=y
CONFIG_HZ=1000
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_RZ1000=m
# CONFIG_PATA_RZ1000 is not set
CONFIG_NET_SB1000=m
CONFIG_NETDEV_1000=y
CONFIG_E1000=m
CONFIG_E1000_NAPI=y
# CONFIG_E1000_DISABLE_PACKET_SPLIT is not set
CONFIG_E1000E=m
CONFIG_IP1000=m
CONFIG_NETDEV_10000=y

So How can i reach to my server 1000 FPS. i would appriciate it if you could help me
