I know all of you have said that sv_downloadurl makes download much faster. So i went and did a lot of work to finally get it set up. I tested it on my friends computers and instead of making a map that usually takes 30 seconds to download, it made it 3 minutes to download.

Instead of getting more clients, i lost more Anyone having the same problems or is it just me?

Yes, it absolutely works.

It sounds like it was set up properly before you messed with it. If a client can DL a 4MB map in 30 seconds, I doubt it was from the game server.

Hehe, it sounds from the tech specs, you actually went in reverse order. I offer free sv_downloadurl in Los Angeles, CA and I know for sure, it definitely speeds things up.

Depends on the speed of your game server and the speed of the server you're linking too.

sv_downloadurl is for linking to a different host/server offloading the downloads from the game server. So it can support anyspeed your remote server is capable of.

Some people try to link to their own computer/connection and it ends up being slower to download from then their professionally hosted gameserver.

Does your location and the location of your sv_downloadurl website affect the download speed? Coz i live in asia....

yep has to be you, all my cs/dod maps dl within 30 seconds.

Yes, location can definitely play a role. Try downloading this file from my webspace and inform me of the speed: http://bndclan.com/files/tf.zip - if your speed is less than 60KB/sec or so, it is probably not worth it to get fast d/l from my server.
