Well since out book sucks for Algebra II/Trig, I will ask a few questions here...

If someone could please shot me how to complete these review problems step by step that would be great... I need to know the logic behind something because I will have some questions similar to these on the Final Exam on Monday.

Here are the problems I am having troubles with...

Solve by Quadratic Formula: x² - x + 3 = 0

Solve by Quadratic Formula: w² - 2w - 1 = 0

Write in Quadratic Form: f(x) = 2(3x+1)² So far I have done this: f(x) = 2(3x + 1)(3x + 1) f(x) = 2(6x² + 6x + 1) f(x) = 12x² + 12x + 2 Would I have to use the Quadratic Formula for this? -b(+-)(sqrt(-b² - 4ac) ------------------------ 2a

Find the Axis of Symmetry: f(x) = (1/4)(x + 2)² -3 So far I have done this: f(x) = (1/4)((x² + 2)(x² + 2)) - 3 f(x) = (1/4)((x^4) + 4x² + 4) f(x) = (.25(x^4)) + x² -2 Now I know that AOS is (-b)/(2a), but can I still do that with the x's?

Solve for x: x² - x - 20 > 0

is x + 2 a factor of 2(x^4) - 8(x^3) + 3x² +14 ?

Given x-2 is a factor of 2(x^3) + x² - 13x + 6 find the remaining factors...

Find the polynomial function that has zeros 2 and 1 - i.

Also, if I had this, would I just find the LCD and cancel it out? (3/2n) - (1/4) + (5/6n)

x² - x + 3 = 0
A = 1, B = -1, C = 3
X = (-B +- sq(B²-4AC))/2A
X = (1+-sq(1-12))/2
X = (1+-sq(11)i)/2
And I believe it should be in A+Bi form, but you can take it from there.



w² - 2w - 1 = 0
same thing here.



f(x) = 2(3x+1)²
2(9x²+6x+1)
18x²+12x+2 *Cough*
your error was here:

f(x) = 2(6x² + 6x + 1)

f(x) = (1/4)(x + 2)² -3
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the axis of symmetry is this line: X=-2
One graphing method is to take the (x-#) and shift the x² graph left or right that # of times (if you don't know this method, don't use it haha) and since 1/4 is positive the ² is facing up, so AOS would be a verticle line X=#, so just find out with the vertex X coord is, which is -2, and thats your line (I think this is it)

edit, Most of that stuff was on the 1st semester final for us, second semester was circles, and things like that, parabollas hyperbollas, one more but I cant remember, I graduated and forgot basically everything.

PS SweatyBanana is older then me, but I graduated before him.

I would have this year if it wasn't for my friends... I don't want to go to college a year early mate... Bills and shit.. No way!
