A small explanation I wrote for someone else a year ago.

http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?p=133724

You should read the entire thread.

thanks that helped a ton! (+karma for u ) but still have a few questions,
(1) i like the idea of using temp entity events, but is there an include file with them in it and defined? And if there is, what is the name of the include and where can i get it, and does it have a module it needs if so what?
(2)I notice some of the temp entities use .spr, do people just us HL1's .spr or do they make their own, if so how?
(3)Similar to #2, some tempent's call for "sprite index" if "sprite model index" is a .spr, what is a "sprite index"?
Thank Avalanche sry for all the trouble

I attached it to this post (zipped because forums don't allow the .h extension). It has other Half-Life defines as well. The format for a temp entity is:

Code:
message_begin(MSG_BROADCAST,SVC_TEMPENTITY); write_byte(x); ... message_end();

Where "x" is the number of the temp entity listed in the file. After you write that byte then you follow the rest of the outline in the file.

Most people use default sprites, but you can make your own. I attached two applications useful for this.

A sprite index is the value returned from a sprite precache. Here is an example:

Code:
new mySprite; public plugin_precache() {    mySprite = precache_sprite("sprites/soandso.spr"); } public my_message() {    ...    write_short(mySprite);    ... }

EDIT: files removed
