Scoreboard avatars file (?)

Hello, I have a question about scoreboard Steam avatars. Since you can see them only if you play 1024x768 or higher, then is there a file (.res for example) what controls that?

So basically: is there a way to show Steam avatars in scoreboard when playing for example 800x600? Or is it done by .dll file and can't be modified?

Doesn't modifying dll files trigger a VAC ban?

No. At least current DLL that I posted.

VAC bans you for modifying the base EXE file or the DLL files.

If I were a Valve developer I would have hardcoded it in the client. Because it's something I wouldn't want to be changed by others. So I think there is no config file to change it.

I tested this and many others patched DLL's files (bug-fixes) — my Steam account still okay, no any bans by VAC.

VAC will never ban immediately . . . therefore, you could have triggered a ban months ago and get banned tomorrow (I don't know the exact time frames).
