Debian almost destroyed my computer...
I installed it, it took a while, but it worked quite well, repartitioning my computer slightly, after it failed to partition my iPod correctly.
It installed GRUB, so I could load it, my other distro's of Linux, and my Win32 OS's without a problem (I realyl didn't have a problem just sticking in a boot disk to load the OS I wanted before, but eh.)
It loads up...and this is where the problems hit. Normal Debian refuses to load, I have to load in recovery mode. It stops connecting to the internet, so its just the very basic command line, with no tools. And then, when I restart to fix it, GRUB is corrupted, and I can't boot to ANY OS.
Luckily I had a Live CD for Ubuntu, or I wouldn't be online right now. I managed to fix the boot loader, but then discovered that the act of repartitioning had NOT repartitioned free space (I had about 20 gigs of free space, I wanted to repartition 5 of that) but had indeed repartitioned still used space, making my Windows install inoperable.
So I partitioned out Windows (The OS partition I had repartitioned for a bit of space for Debian) and reinstalled it. Luckily, I back up all my stuff, but none of it was damaged.
Maybe I just got unlucky and got a version of Debian with a corrupted version of GRUB, or did SOMETHING wrong (I can't see what though, as the installation was absurdly easy), but let me tell you, I never had any troubles like this with even some of the harder Linux Distro's to install....
