This topic has been moved before but nobody has reacted whatsoever.

Some of the item names/descriptions are using UTF-8 characters. It's all fine until at a random time all the "non-english" characters become question marks "?" and question marks in black diamonds. It's really random and annoying. I believe that store might lose connection to the MySQL database and when re-establishing it, everything goes funny. The only solution then is a server restart.

I have also noticed, that when this "encoding glitch mode" happens, player names that are inserted into the database have invalid characters as well, while when everything works okay and the characters are properly encoded, the player names in the database have the correct characters.

The encoding of my entire store database is set to utf8_general_ci. Everywhere.

Could someone please take a look at this? I do realize that most users don't care due to using english-only characters that won't glitch out, but maybe it's just something stupid in the code that is easy to fix.

There are no errors thrown by store into any logs nor into console besides this:
Code:
ERROR | SQL Error on GetEquippedItemsByType: Lost connection to MySQL server during query
The SQL server is on a remote dedi box.

Running Linux, SourceMod 1.6.0-dev+4131.

Thanks in advance!
