I'm just a lurker here and I should probably just continue being one. ;) (Now of course there is the inevitable...) But, let me just add two thoughts to the discussion.

First, please make sure you (each and every one) don't try and insist on the color of the bike shed. Why should I care what color the bikeshed is?

Second, please (developers) don't add knobs (configuration options) just because the community isn't in agreement on what the "best" setting is. Especially in a situation like this where their is no performance or general use impact. You may be familiar with Mozilla's "hidden options". If so you'll probably understand that, while amxx will probably never reach the extent that mozilla has, the proliferation of options leads to a very confusing and painful process to configure anything. Also while individually each option is a negligable performance hit, together they can add up to measurable slow downs.

In this situation I would prefer the option to have the ini files in the respective directories. But any standardized location would be preferable to a configurable one.

Thank you for your wise insight. The only true reason for a "hidden option" of where the configuration files would go is so the developers get what they want and the users get what they want. For instance, Mozilla has themes. Some people like Modern over Classic. But that doesnt mean Modern has to be forced apon the Classic users. I, myself, use rain for its easy look and great hook up with the GUI theme on my OS.

I don't care where you put them, but if they are in the config/ folder I won't have to hardlink them to there :p

The developers have finalized the locations for this coming release. After this release they MAY decide to go with this vote. If all goes well that is.

The poll results are pretty much finished.

if there will be more than 50% on the respective folders, we will maybe change it ( or make it configurable using a hidden config? )
