Hi community,

since weeks I try to install a L4D2 dedicated server. My script is:

login anonymous
force_install_dir /server/games/l4d2_coop
app_update 222860 validate
exit

But the installation never goes through till the end.
It always crashes after some minutes with the error:

/home/buildbot/buildslave_steam/steam_rel_client_linux/build/src/clientdll/csinterface.cpp (106) : Assertion Failed: m_unRequestsOutstanding == 0
Error! App '222860' state is 0x406 after update job.
exit

Today I tried to install a CS:GO server, same error:

/home/buildbot/buildslave_steam/steam_rel_client_linux/build/src/clientdll/csinterface.cpp (106) : Assertion Failed: m_unRequestsOutstanding == 0
Error! App '740' state is 0x402 after update job.
/home/buildbot/buildslave_steam/steam_rel_client_linux/build/src/clientdll/csinterface.cpp (106) : Assertion Failed: m_unRequestsOutstanding == 0
/home/buildbot/buildslave_steam/steam_rel_client_linux/build/src/clientdll/csinterface.cpp (106) : Assertion Failed: m_unRequestsOutstanding == 0
/home/buildbot/buildslave_steam/steam_rel_client_linux/build/src/clientdll/csinterface.cpp (106) : Assertion Failed: m_unRequestsOutstanding == 0
exit

Has someone any ideas?

Greets

Script looks good.
Make sure you don't run it as root. Also SteamCmd should not be located in the same directory as the srcds installation.

You could also check the steam log files (should be somewhere here: ~/steam/logs)

sry, but I have to use relative paths?
my directories are:
/home/steam/ -> steamcmd
/server/games/l4d2/ -> server
both directories has other ownwers, on steamcmd group has x-rights

I am not sure, why Steamcmd has to be in another folder. I am a Linux noob and can only follow instructions and google. So I decided to do this:

Steamcmd is in
home/n0nnie/servers

Servers are in
home/n0nnie/servers/modname/srcds.sh

so if I update I only do:
login anonymous
force_install_dir modname
app_update IDshit validate

I am not even using a script to run this, because it is faster for me to type this then to find the shortcut to click ^^

Maybe this helps you ak666 ?

found a real fix. all i had to do was open the forced install directory and delete the long random named folder and try the install again. it says success after downloading like nothing, but after trying again it downloads all the content
