currently i'm using sv_voicecodec "voice_speex"

is it true that suing voice_speex lowers the registration rate of the server?

Not sure what you mean by registration rate, but the speex codec is much better quality than the old miles codec and uses a lot less bandwidth.

wut i mean is bullet registration. Like sometimes when u shoot a guy like 10 times and he doesn't die. it means the server isn't registering those bullets.

Also itz the other way around, speex takes up alot of bandwidth as oppose to miles.

Valve has added the support for the Speex voice encoder. By default, HLDS is set to use the old MILES codec that uses almost 32kbps of your bandwidth compared to the Speex codec that can use from 2.4kbps 15.2kbps (depending on which one you select)
quoted from hlds101.com so nope speex uses less and sounds better even at its highest setting

yea i no, it also says it uses more cpu cycles which should mean lower registration rates.

also i think that site is wrong cuz when voice_speex is used at lvl 5 bunch of peopel starts lagging.. if u owned a server and used that rcon command u'll no that it does indeed use more bandwidth.

No, speex is always better, VALVe is just too lazy to make it default.

i no itz better in quality, but i'm just wonderinf if speex would ruin the bullet registration rate as said in that article "it used about 2-4 more %" also the computer has to run more cycles.

If your voice codec is messing up game play, then your server is a pos.

I use speex with quality 5, here is my server stats right now:

CPU In Out Uptime Users FPS Players
10.52 59.63 86.77 7157 7225 514.66 18

Nobody complains about bullets registering, and when they aren't you can blame the internet for that not the server most likely. You cannot expect a game over the internet to be perfect.

Maybe I should retart the server sometime soon
