Hello.

I got an idea.

Since the karma system was blown to shits by a bunch of idiots whose parents left a strong sense of handcrafting on them, I've missed it. Mainly, I've missed to give kudos to the new productive members. We all do know who the old greats are around here anyway.

Obviously, bringing back the old karma system will never happen and would never work. But how about implementing a relative post count?

By relative post count, I mean changing the karma system just a bit. Every time you post something, a reader of that post can press a sort of + button for the post. By pressing this button it will increase the posters relative post count. However, a poster can only receive one point per post, so only the first time someone gives a plus will count. Also, there is no minus button.

This way we could make actually useful posts count and visible to other people. The higher the number, the more useful posts you have done.

Other tweaks would be giving a limited amount of + per poster over time. Also, no comments would be really necessary, now would they? And of course, it wouldn't exist in the OT section.

And now, why this kind of thing? Because it is just fucking ridiculous to see the words "Veteran member" under the nicks of the biggest retards of this forum, who spam around threads and really donīt contribute.

What do you think?

People will learn respecting better without any system including post count and join date.

No it's not. At least according to little googling.

What I am suggesting is only one plus point per post, regardless of how many people like the post. Hence, the relative post count or whatever you want to call it canīt be larger than the actual post count of the person.

No information of users, no messages, nothing will be exchanged. Just one number.

So you're just looking to validate posts to go toward post counts?

I think it should have its own "count" just so people can't spam the forum to get a high post count. Just a thought

Great concept. Much less drama than any previous karma-like suggestions. The fact that you can't get more "relative posts" that your actual post count is a plus.

Nothing's perfect but this is the best suggestion I've seen as an alternative to karma.

Disable post count in General Discussion section and put some restrictions amongst newly registered user (aka their posts will start to count after a specific time).

Since, I'm little in this case please ignore any needless / stupid advice.
