new to creating a server...had a friend show me how to do it but he had to leave on a trip today, so we werent able to figure it out fully. i got the server up, he got into it, but i cant? i set it to 27016...i did all the port forwarding stuff...any ideas?

everytime i try to play it says "steam ticket has expired"...i can still play other servers, just not the one i made, even though its 27016. i also tried to play from another computer, and it still says "steam ticket has expired"...

Is your server on the same network as your computer that you are trying to connect to? If so use the lan ip for you when you are trying to connect. Trying to connect to a server on the same lan on sv_lan 0 will give you "Steam Ticket Has Expired".

i believe it is on the same network...where can i find the lan IP?

on the computer that the hlds is on. if it like windows 2000/xp you have to go into command prompt by using cmd and type ipconfig. for linux i don't remember the command.

XP...so i just use my ip basically, right? with the 27016 after it?

that can be wrong to sometimes..... and since your isp looks at ports differnetly...ugh i not even going to go into that....www.gametiger.com and look up your server...best way works every time
