You can blame Norton Anti-Virus for that.

Lol this is quite simple to fix because I'm 99% sure of the location of such "trojan horse."

Open C:/documents and settings find your username then open that folder. Next, on the top look for "tools" then "folder options" then "view" tab. Finally locate "SHow hidden files and folders" - make sure it's checked. Now, go back to the folder: find "Local Settings" --> Temp --> Edit tab --> select all --> delete --> yes.

Re-install possibly after doing that as there may be some weird issues.

I just did that and when u click select all then delete... theres nothing in that folder.

I went to documents and settings --> default user --> Local settings --> Temp. Is that the right spot? If so there was nothing in that "Temp" folder.

Someone please help me

No, not default user, go to your username in the docs and settings folder (eg ak47killer) because default user usually doesn't store user specific data.

I think steam must be giving viruses now (more clearly than ever) because I am getting the same problem as ak47killer and I keep a sharp eye on what goes into/out of my computer.

You would open "Owner" and delete what's in the Temp folder there. Apparently symantec (norton) is aware of this issue and is issuing a patch soon.
