Using the following VPS specs to host a 10VS10 L4D2.

Linux: Ubuntu 13.04 (without desktop environment)
3GB RAM
4GB vSwap
4 vCPU Core
80GB Disk space
2TB Bandwidth
100Mbps uplink

When I start the srcds as new and play at this server with a ping of 200, even with 20/20 players my game is still smooth and only with little lag.

However, after a long day (12 hours later) when I join the server again I start to experience obvious lag issue. I have to restart my srcds and the lag will be gone but only be back again after long hours.

Anybody know why is it like this?

Is this on a server that never changes maps?

It change map using automatic campaign switcher (ACS) plugin.

Almost always are servers (hosted) restarted every day at certain time (4:00 was my case) to clear RAM because it would get laggy. Do you restart it everyday?

You mean just close the srcds and open it again or reboot the whole server machine?

So I guess the other people who host also will restart their server everyday, it does help to clear the lag issue.

I noticed that If I leave my server on for longer than 24h it crashes due to some ram error. Most people restart their server every 24h. Managed servers even do it by default.

Just the srcds. I think it is on every game hosting. It is necessary. You can disable it there but you risk such problems. Just restart it everyday at 4 o clock when nobody is playing (usually).

I will restart it daily before i go to bed.
