TF2 server won't start up, dedicated_srv.so not found?

I'm trying to start a tf2 server from scratch, but I keep getting this error:

Failed to open dedicated_srv.so (libstdc++.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)

I've installed that with apt-get already, and I'm using debian 8 jessie.

dedicated_srv.so is clearly in my tf2 server's bin/ folder

SIDE NOTE: Someone is helping me install this and we are getting errors. He is troubleshooting it and can't currently figure out the problem. So whenever information I can get will be going to my friend, so I probably won't be able to give back good responses.
