MetaMod loads and can run "meta ..." commands but no plugins work?

Tried installing a pretty standard plugin (JetPack, for example), tried to run the commands for it (jetpack_version, etc), but all result in "Unknown command".

meta brings up the list of available commands and "meta list" brings up the following:
-Id- Name Version Author Status
[01] Jetpack 1.0.6 L. Duke RUN

I've done just about everything I think I need to do. Added entry to metaplugins.ini as "addons/jetpack/bin/jetpack_mm" and moved so file to addons/jetpack/bin directory. What else is missing?

Perhaps you're missing file(s) or the mod is out of date. Try:

log on
meta unload X
meta load addons/jetpack/bin/jetpack_mm

And see if any errors come up.
