This is not possible Escape Route is almost unrelated to navigation
https://developer.valvesoftware.com/...on_Meshes_(L4D) ESCAPE_ROUTE attribute is added to nav areas that are on the escape route

Most likely, it doesn't work because I did debug all the attributes and never noticed the ESCAPE_ROUTE

Is there a way to customize what can and can't spawn? I don't exactly want to find T1, T2, and like a hundred ammo upgrades on the first map of the parish, but I do want pistols and magnums to be a tiny bit more common

Inside the source code in the lines between 69 and 118 you will find numbers these numbers and there are chances to spawn a certain item
