For privacy, maybe they can make option while registration or in User CP "Show me in the thread views".

E.G. : Invisible mode allows you to browse the forums without appearing in the 'Currently Active Users' lists.

They can add this type of option for views too.

"No" is easier than actually making this. Besides, it's creepy and your intentions by having this on a forum is questionable.

Ex: Facebook, Twitter has no way for you to know who viewed your posts on the news feed, I remember having it in Facebook Groups, but they never made it to the public news feed.
