It would be nice to check how long someone has their account checking at Steam Community, so if they have it only after the F2P update... With this, probably Valve wouldn't make nothing to prevent it (or maybe they will remove that information from community?

No problema with people paying less than I did, or noobs infestation. The only real problem is control over cheaters and griefers, since they can make another account in a minute.

This is the kind of stuff that makes Valve kill modding.

This uses a system that Valve exposed as part of the SteamWorks API.

Modding is what keeps Valve games playable and interesting. Without modding you'd play the same gameplay everywhere, get tired of it, and move onto another game (unless you were serious about tournaments). When you're done with mods, you return to the 'base gameplay' for the sake of it being another mode.

More to the point: This plugin offers you a choice to block free2play players. With a little modification it offers the reserve. The point isn't so much that it does block free2play players, but that you are offered the opportunity via asherkin's hardwork to block them. This might be useful for PUGS, or maybe you might adapt it to play free2play vs non-free2play, or use it to count the number of players as they join to have a 50/50 split in a pug. He has exposed a way for you to identify them. If you don't like it, don't use it. More importantly: if Valve didn't like it, they could always block it in TF2 (and any other games which they control completely), offering it only as an option to Steamworks enabled developers...

The same was said about attachments and hats.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Anyway, a VALVe employee told me that this will result in servers being delisted.

That means they have to check every server themselfs, or make a bot for it.

I doubt that.

No, the server checks the time people spend in your server. If your server is booting a lot of people your server will eventually be delisted because of a bad server score.

And considering that F2P will eventually outnumber people who paid your server will be booting a lot of people.

The system was originally designed for those tons of fake server that redirected you. But it will also work on server that kick a ton of people automatically.
