The real question is: is anyone at Valve involved in HL currently?

Somebody has to be, since one of them is the contact for the SC team. I don't think they'd leave the SDK email on their site if nobody reads/forwards it.

If you're asking whether i'm working on an engine, i'm not. There are people working on Xash and ReHLDS though.

Earlier today i noticed that there was a file called license.txt in the SDK repository that had some weird license information in it that can be interpreted to mean you can use Source SDK code in the HL1 SDK, so i integrated Steamworks into the prototype engine i've been working on. You can find out how here: https://github.com/SamVanheer/PrototypeEngine

Note that this is the hard way to do it, if the Steamworks SDK didn't prevent me from using it directly i'd be using that.

You can use the same code to access these interfaces in AMX mod and query it for all kinds of information, or change stuff.

The same license wording allows me to use VGUI2 code so i'll be getting my ported code committed to HLE so it can access that stuff as well.

In case anybody wants to see how you can use the Steamworks API, i've reworked a program i made a while ago so it uses my engine meta loader: https://github.com/SamVanheer/Protot...lpers.cpp#L358

This shows how you can query for app install directories, in this case it's used to copy game content for use in Sven Co-op.

See https://github.com/SamVanheer/Engine-game for current binaries.

I don't know, but if it's this one then that's possible because it can access the SDK more easily. Source mods are given the CSteamAPIContext containing the interfaces they need.
