Chaos Lama and your question is? The error output states you are not running a MySql server on the localhost if you read it and you should either specify IP for it or install it on the localhost but keep in mind that this is a central ban and admin system and not for one server (localhost server).

I have an external server (website) running the database and i have my database.cfg file correctly configured. Sourcebans doesnt seem to read it though

Make sure they allow other servers to connect to it. And use the ip address.

I did that, the sql server allows connections from my game servers. I got amxbans working on it, sourcemod just doesn't want to work.

The error messages disagrees with you saying your database.cfg is correctly configured. The database host is set to localhost, which is the game server, not your external website. If your database host is set to your domain name or IP address just reload sourcebans.smx and it should work.
