For some reason after recent update, one of my 2 dedi server boxes is now giving me
"Unable to load steam support library" "Lan mode only"
Never had this issue in 3 years on this box, now my tf2 servers on this box have this problem.
I do not have a Steam Client installed on this box, only the steamcmd stuff for updating/installing them. Tried google and the solutions were old and many. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I have the same problem too, all my CS:S servers start in lan mode only.
How fix it???

if you are using revemu for linux, you will need to download new steamclient.so

FYI I'm using Win. Server 2008. Also here is one of my tf2 server command lines.
"srcds.exe -console -game "tf" -maxplayers 25 +map "ctf_turbine" -ip 208.64.38.53 -port 27018 +exec Server.cfg"

reg delete HKCU\Software\Valve\Steam\ActiveProcess /f

The issue is from having an outdated or too new version of Steam installed on the server, whether or not it's running when you launch the game server. Deleting the registry key is just telling the game server to ignore it, avoid the issue.

I may have once ,long ago(years), had steam installed on this server. Don't have it installed now. Also on many recent updates I never had this issue come up, just after the most recent update did it happen. By "Avoiding the issue" do you mean, not to install steam on the server box, or by deleting the reg key the game server avoids the issue ?

...or delete the files in question.

I'm not sure where Steam's client library lives on Windows, but on Linux it lives in ~/.steam/sdk32/steamclient.so

(~ is the user's home directory)

On Windows, when you install steam client, goes in the programs folder.
