Hey,

I noticed the sm_rename commands is not working in left 4 dead. I do:

"sm_rename hello1 paper"

This is a example (with out quotes) and it doesn't change the persons name from "hello" to "paper". Is there some thing I'm doing wrong?

if you do in console, setinfo name "some name"

does it change your name?

I think the SM command uses that method, and if it doesn't work, then l4d doesn't support it

I could be wrong though

I assume the command would allow the admin to change the clients name, or maybe I have the wrong idea?

sm_rename only scrambles the characters in their name, it doesnt actually set a persons name since once you disconnect it will go back to normal.

if you do sm_rename <client_name> <name> it will change the client's name to the name you specify.

If you don't specify a name, then it scrambles

Renaming from your method does not work either, that method is the one i always tried. Even if you don't specify a name it does not work. Can somevone please fix this? That would be really great.

Somevone told me how to fix this, and renaming is actually working.
all you have to write is
''sm_rename *player name* "New name"
example my charakter name is ''Skyttens'' you write: sm_rename Skyttens "Banana"
