I recently started subscribed to the valve mailing list for HLDS and SRCDS updates. Today I got an awesome email.
I know that many people are asking if their servers are listen on the master servers, well, valve has released a "tool" that will show you if it is. It is nothing but a simple website where you enter the IP of the server in the URL and then it shows if it is listed or not. If it is not listed, the webpage won't return any information, and if it is, you can see if it has VAC or not, all the ports that has servers running and if sv_lan is 1 or 0.
The URL is:
http://api.steampowered.com/ISteamAp...xx&format=json
Where you replace "xx.xx.xx.xx" with your servers IP address.
Remember that valve consider it to be abusive if you use it many times. Their own description:

Now you will never need to ask your friends if they can see your server online, or check the server list for 30 minutes to check if your server is listed or not!
