I guess my question is and its likely this was asked or talked about but for some reason IP# bans do NOT work. Anyone care to tell me how to make them work or a alternate solution?

Have your host enable remote MySQL access.

I wouldn't mind trying this, but I don't see the need to have a $30.00 a month dedicated web host at the moment. Most shared hosts won't open specific ports for you.
If anyone else knows a way around the Web Panel "Unable to connect" error, I'm sure 90% of those who tried this plugin would like to hear it.

I pay less than $5/month for a webhost that I use this on and they are great in opening up ports I needed for this and other things.
Also unless the webpanel can connect to the server which is by having those ports open then it won't work.

I've scripted for PHP for quite a while, but never really got a functional PHP installation done manually.

Take a look here: http://199.180.132.47/sourcebans/

I'm assuming those errors are happening because I don't have some kind of PHP module installed or something.

How can I get that to stop happening?

Did you modify any of sourcebans' files except the config.php?
You've got some weird 5 line whitespace at the beginning of the xajax response. FF doesn't seem to like that. (against some moz-nullprincipal?)

I don't believe I did. It works fine on my old VPS that has cPanel.

Hey Horse, you're a lifesaver. I just signed up with site5 today and sourcebans' working perfectly.
I understand now that unless the host supports it, people don't see just how great this plugin really is, and it's getting a bad rap with all the posts about errors and crashes.
p.s. site5 will give you one month free if you use the code FreeMonth at checkout. I opted for the deluxe package though. A little OCD goes a long way.
