Hey guys I'm probably going to be purchasing a new video card soon. I want it to be PCI-E and less than $120.
I'm not really sure what would be the greatest for me. I want to be able to run CS 1.6 with 100 fps+ easy and HL2 at 60-70+ fps constant. Any one have any suggestions..?

What resolution will you be playing at?
Do you want all eye-candy turned on?
What kind of PSU do you have?
What's your PSU's 12v rated at?
Do you have any plants for DX10 in the 'near' future?

Probably 800x600 or 1024x960. Eye-candy? Could I have some examples of what you mean?

I want the card to be nvidia.

I was looking at the 7600 GS or 7600 GT

Does the memory on the cart make that much of a difference, i.e is a 7600 GT 256mb fine for what I need?

Hmm you don't need that much eye-candy then if you're going to play on those low resolutions.

AA & AF smooths out the edges and the way it renders the images. Just google them for more information.

256mb is enough for that resolution. Your video card's memory plays a big part as your resolution goes higher.

I was going to suggest the PNY 7900GS 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 as your video card.

It's priced at $119 + Shipping.

You didn't mention anything about DX9 or DX10 so I'm going to assume you'll stay with DX9 for awhile.

A lot of cards fit into your price range including the one Pardonme stated however that is just a bit over your price range... But it is a great card. If you need a DX10, try the lower-end 8500 series but if DX9 is good for you, go with the 7900 series or 7600 series like this great card for a great price: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130017

There are geforce 8600 cards for under $120 (usually with the rebate).

Yes but I was banned for multiple accounts. I asked about the ban, sawce gave me a screenie of it, apparently someone has been using my i.p or something to make an account.

I.E ban for nothing. I think I might get a unban soon enough but Sawce hasn't replied to my message yet.

Anyways meanwhile I just need some help picking out a video card.

What are the advantages of DX10, what games require DX10?

Also are there any video cards under $120 that can deliver 80+ fps constant on HL2 games?

edit:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150182 Looks very good, only $90 also with the rebate.

I know most of these cards can play 1.6 the way I want to, but I would really like to get back into HL2 and the reason I somewhat quit is because I was only playing around 40 fps. If this card can deliver 80+ fps on 1024x960 resolution I'll have a nerdgasm.
